WFCF launches the CARE program for the beef industry. Farms and ranches begin their annual evaluations against the CARE standard using a scored audit tool that encourages continuous improvement in their sustainability journey (ongoing).

Where Food Comes From Founding Member of US Roundtable for Sustainable Beef.

A survey is sent to the Beef PAB asking detailed questions about how to improve the CARE standard for the beef industry.
2019

WFCF develops CARE Standard for the beef industry, which is aligned with USRSB Framework, Indicators and Metrics.

USRSB reviews CARE Standard and recognizes the program.

2020
Beef Producer Advisory Board (PAB) selected, representing
farms and ranches in different regions across the US. The PAB will evaluate CARE and provide feedback.
2020
December
CARE Beef Expert Committee finalized. They will annually review CARE and recommend changes based on the current science and the USRSB framework, indicators and metrics to ensure continuous improvement of all CARE Certified farms and ranches.

CARE comments evaluated by the Beef Expert Review Committee and revised. Updated Standard added to website.

CARE Certified meat products hit shelves at Heinen's Foods.

CARE beef audit tool revised to reflect the review and recommendations from the Beef PAB and Expert Committee.
CARE Standard for beef made public on the CARE website to undergo 30-day Public Comment Period, ending April 15, 2021.
