— 2018 United States Cenus Agriculture Facts
Never before in human history has there been a greater need for people to know and understand where their food comes from. Food insecurity caused by a global pandemic has caused grocery stores to get bombarded and certain products like primary proteins are almost impossible to find. As markets are stressed and uncertainty affects commodity prices, farmers and ranchers are forced to sell their perishable products into volatile markets.
As producers and consumers struggle to make sense of the global food supply network, it becomes evident there is an opportunity for a better way for us all to collaborate.
The WFCF CARE Coop will provide a central place of confidence to calm consumer fears of lack of food supply.
Furthermore, producers of food will be assured of a common marketplace which will alleviate the effects of global financial markets on the one common necessity of humanity : food and water.

327.4 million U.S. consumers
In 2018, there were 327.4 million people living in the U.S. Since the end of WWII, the distributed nature of food supplies has created a void between consumers of food and the people that actually grow and raise that food.
While this has allowed a very cheap supply of food, it has totally removed the relationship that more and more consumers wish to have with producers.
